Romans 3 & 4

i have been thinking about Romans 3 & 4 a lot this weekend.
i waS thinking about righteousness and faith - things we have little to none of. things that it would be impossible for us to gain on our own.
in romans 3:21-26, paul tells us our righteousness comes from faith - apart from the law. apart from being a jew.
i thought of it like this:
God gave us the law, he gave us the prophets, all to testify to his own righteousness. then he offered it to us, through his son.
Faith's giver, (
Its redeemer, (Romans 3:24)
Its sacrifice, (Romans 3:25)
Its atonement (Romans 3:25) was Jesus -- For our justification (Romans 3:25,26; 4:25)

Oops! Dingleberry is a Bad Word!!

What I really meant was DINGBAT!!! Oh Well!!
Hello Everyone,
I am printing the schedule for the rest of July. This is helpful if you want to copy and print to keep in your bible. Basically, we will finish Acts and read into the first three chapters of Romans this month. In addition, we will read through Psalms 56:

July 17 - Ps. 18-19, Acts 20:17-38
July 18- Ps. 20-22, Acts 21:1-17
July 19 - Ps.23-25, Acts 21:18-40
July 20 - Ps. 26-28, Acts 22
July 21 - Ps. 29-30, Acts 23:1-15
July 22 -Ps.31-2, Acts 23:16-35

July 27- Ps. 43-5, Acts 27:27-44
July 28- Ps. 46-48,Acts 28
July 29- Ps. 49-50, Romans 1
July 30- Ps.51-53-Romans 2
July 31 - Ps. 54-56, Romans 3

The July meeting was such a great time! We had a small group and lots of good food and good conversation. Some of us were ahead and some behind on the reading, but all are enjoying the task to which we have committed ourselves! Whether you have kept up or not, be sure to come to the meetings - totally enriching good girlfriend time!! The next meeting in August has a date change - sorry!!! - I will try to avoid those!!! We will meet on Thurs. Aug. 7th - Please mark your calendars with the date change! Can't wait to see you there!

Remember to make this work for you - for example, I read all of Acts but I decided not to read Job. I wanted to dedicate more time to it instead of starting in the middle. I will finish strong with Job and have time to study more about it. ......If you feel like dropping out because you had a slow start, let me encourage you to start again with the middle of Psalms and the beginning of Romans (Romans starts the last 3 days of July). Those of us who have been reading (and I am one of the worst about dropping behind, then having a couple of catch up days) have found that it is truly not unmanageable - support is great! You can do this and will enjoy doing it with girlfriends!!

Oh.... and yeah!!!! We have one official comment on the blog!! Be brave- post questions, thoughts, responses! Congratulations Lynn on the purchase of your first study bible!!!

Happy Reading All!!

July is Here!

Hello All!
We are now into the third day of July!! I hope you have been better than me and have already linked onto the Gateway site and have read your daily readings......... but if you're like me, you are just looking today to see what is going on! If that's the case, am also adding the schedule into our blog so you can copy and print if you'd like. Remember, we are coming into this schedule in the middle of the year. It will recycle again beginning January 1st. John was written to the Jews to prove that Jesus' life was in concordance what the prophets had laid out. Job was written approx. 2000 years BC - some believe it was the first written book of the bible. This book gives us insight into the works of Satan and address the question Why do the righteous suffer? Acts was written about 65yrs AD and is intended to give information about the birth and growth of the Christian church. Happy reading:
July 1 - Job 20-21, Acts 10:24-48
July 2 - Job 22-24, Acts 11
July 3 - Job 25-27, Acts 12
July 4 - Job 28-29, Acts 13:1-25
July 5 - Job 30-31, Acts 13:26-52
July 6 - Job 32-33, Acts 14
July 7 - Job 34-35, Acts 15:1-21
July 8- Job 36-7, Acts 15:22-41
July 9 - Job 38-40, Acts 16:1-21
July 10 - Job 41-2, Acts 16:22-40
July 11 - Psalm 1-3, Acts 17:1-15
July 12 - Psalm 4-6, Acts 17:16-34
July 13 - Psalm 7-9, Acts 18
July 14 - Psalm 10-12, Acts 19:1-20
July 15 - Psalm 13-15, Acts 19:21-41

Apparently I'm a Dingleberry!

I thought I already posted this, so if it comes through twice - sorry! Today is Thursday and we are scheduled to read John 10, I think.... I have loved the discovery of how easily I am able to keep up (and catch up when I get behind - I know, it has happened already). Someone please explain to me the parts where Jesus says something like, "those in their graves will rise on the day when I come again." Does that mean that people remain in their graves and all ascend to Heaven at the same time when Christ returns for the second coming, or am I reading too much into that line? Also, my bible says that earlier manuscripts left John 8 out entirely- that chapter has been my favorite to read so far. I think it is so very powerful when all realize their inability to cast a stone!! I hope you are enjoying this as well!! Again, thank you to Jamie for providing this beautiful platform for us to converse! I can't wait to hear your responses!
